How much more black could it be?

I have now moved to Cambridge. Temporarily. I'll be living at my parents house for the next couple of months before the move down to Bournemouth with the lady. Also, in the past week I've seen a ton (a fucking ton) of bands. Still, I'm gonna turn this into a day-by-day account of my life as this isn't Livejournal circa 2002 and, well, who wants to read a boring day-by-day account of my life?

I will talk about last night though, but not before a word from our sponsor...

I am writing a zine. Well, more truthfully, me and James Hull are planning to put a zine together. The plan is to do one bumper issue and just take it from there. No definite plans for issue two. The current working title is "Excuse Me, Do You Have Any Cocaine?" which only makes sense if you were there this one time, in America, with James Hull, Frank Turner and possibly Fake Problems. I was not there. Anyway, I will likely pilfer some content from this blog for the zine. And we're off...

Last night was ace. I'd seen a gig listing for "Judith Owen + Harry Shearer". Harry freaking Shearer. As in the dude from Spinal Tap, The Simpsons and loads more. Some research showed that Judith Owen is a singer-songwriter and Harry Shearer is her husband. I wasn't sure in what capacity Harry Shearer would be involved but didn't want to miss out. So we ordered tickets and then found out that Harry Shearer was playing with Judith and not doing a set of his own. Okay, so this might not be that great but still, I'll be in the same room as Harry freaking Shearer so that's got to count for something!

Fast forward to the gig - which was seated by the way - and Judith Owen is freaking funny. Seriously, awesome sense of humour and really fun to watch. Even though I'm not really into the female-singer-songwriter-with-a-piano (well, epic-sized keyboard) type stuff, I really enjoyed her stuff. Harry Shearer was playing bass and occasionally saying some funny stuff on the mic.

Claire won a Judith Owen CD in the mini raffle-type thing. Three days earlier I'd won six beers (when I don't drink). Claire's prize > my prize.

I fanboyed and got my picture taken with Judith and Harry (which is now, obviousoly, my Facebook profile photo). All-in-all an awesome night, and I met Harry Shearer so win. Basically.
